It’s here. The day that many have coined as the most important day in IT, System Administrator Appreciation Day.
We all know that we couldn’t survive in our day-to-day jobs without the support of those who tirelessly to keep our networks up, our data safe and protected and our laptops connected to the resources we need both in the office and remotely. Imagine not being able to connect remotely these past two years! But, let’s not boil down what any SysAdmin does to just those tasks. For many who hold that position, they are the glue that makes IT work.
As we have in prior years, we felt that a simple “Thank You” is not enough today. We asked everyone to nominate your favorite SysAdmin. Like in year’s past, we were amazed to read the submissions and are now ready to recognize three of the many that were submitted for special recognition.
Congrats Andy, Rob and Iain! Here’s what the nominees had to say about each of their favorite SysAdmins:
- For Andy, “He is smart. Innovative, and always looking for ways to get things done efficiently and cost-effectively! Can’t thank him enough for what he does day in and day out.”
- For Rob, “He has a ton of grit, and works with a remote and global team with seamless efficiency.”
- For Iain, “He saved me over and over again on multiple occasions. Without an eye-roll or pat on the head that I thoroughly deserved.”
While we take this moment to say “Thanks” and recognize each for continuing to amaze in their roles day-to-day, our own note of thanks and HYCU gift is on its way. Today, and frankly any day, we encourage everyone to take a moment to recognize the SysAdmins in your life. Here are a few popular suggestions on ways to say, Thank You!
- Cake & Ice cream
- Pizza
- Cards
- Gifts
- Words of gratitude
- Custom t-shirts celebrating the epic greatness of your SysAdmin
- Balloons
- Confetti
Also, make sure to check out what Dave Marshall at VMBlog shared in recognition of this #SysAdminDay! He shared special recognition from a number of industry voices including our own SVP Products Subbiah Sundaram.
Enjoy today! Thank you to all the System Administrators out there! Perhaps, it is today, and will be well into the future, “the single greatest 24 hours on the planet.”
