It’s that time of year again.
The day that matters most in the life of any SysAdmin.
Huh? They get a special day of remembrance and celebration? That’ right, they do. And why not. They’re the ones helping to maintain your access to your desktop, documents and information in order to make your own job easier. They’re the ones making sure your network and servers are performing to their best. And at times, they’re the ones manning the help desk day and night.
And while the ordinary definition per Wikipedia may seem straight-forward, “The system administrator seeks to ensure that the uptime, performance, resources, and security of the computers he or she manages meet the needs of the users, without exceeding the budget. To meet these needs, a system administrator may acquire, install, or upgrade computer components and software; provide routine automation; maintain security policies; troubleshoot; train or supervise staff; or offer technical support for projects.” We all know that many of our SysAdmins do much much more than what’s been defined.
So today is the day to celebrate your SysAdmins.
And while some have suggested ways to celebrate with a list from the following:
Proper observation of SysAdmin Day includes (but is not limited to):
- Cake & Ice cream
- Pizza
- Cards
- Gifts
- Words of gratitude
- Custom T-shirts celebrating the epic greatness of your SysAdmin
- Balloons
- Confetti
- Did I say gifts
We’d like to take this time to thank all of our SysAdmins and the SysAdmins that we help make their daily jobs easier with the software we provide. Thank you! For everything we know you do, and for so much more that you do to keep things working smoothly! Enjoy your day!
