This is the second article in our four-part series about Securing Your Backup Data and Safeguarding Against Ransomware.
These days, backups are considered to be an integral part of a strong cybersecurity strategy. How you approach that strategy and store the data is essential to ensuring recoverability. Also, the speed at which customers can implement a solution, get it operational, and effectively safeguard their organizations prized data is vital to their missions and continuity of IT operations. The fact that HYCU allows customers the ability to do this very quickly is great news for anyone who used to spend weeks, months, or more planning, deploying, and tuning their backup environment. So, get protected now and fast, because the biggest mistake when fighting against ransomware is not making decisions quickly enough.
Another common mistake is to think it only ever happens to someone else, not to you. Experience can sometimes even be a bad thing, as it might give you a false sense of safety. HYCU takes a policy-driven approach to protecting customers’ critical VMs, data, and applications. This means that much of the careful thinking, apart from choosing the right backup storage target solutions, will be focused on setting the proper policy options, snapshots, backups/copies/archives, retention, RPO/RTO, along with a few additional measures to ensure that (both) the VMs and applications are protected with the right level of consistency. However, careful thinking is not something that should happen once. Rethink the business priorities and approach, things change over time. Perhaps cloud targets were not an option before, but WORM capabilities certainly can help you stay safe in the most appropriate manner. Without the need to resort back to good old tapes!
Speaking about good old’s, remember the 3-2-1 backup principle.
With HYCU you can very simply add a number 4 for the same policy. For our Nutanix customers, HYCU offers the ability to keep a specified set of snapshots close to the VMs for Fast Restore capability, in addition to storing backups/copies/archives on storage targets. That capability is helpful from a restore efficiency standpoint, but also provides another location to safely store backup data!
In the next of our four-part series of articles, we will cover the ways that HYCU can improve and streamline your backup processes in the current and upcoming release. As an optimized solution for Nutanix and VMware environments, HYCU is quickly gaining a strong following. If you are interested in learning more, reach out to us at info@hycu.com. You’ll quickly see why there are more than 1,300 customers in 70+ countries worldwide leveraging the power of HYCU for their multi-cloud data protection environments.
If you would like to learn more about how protecting your application and server sources like HYCU does can help offset things like ransomware, we will be offering a Live/Recorded Webinar on March 26 at 4:00 pm ET. You can register at “Recovering from Ransomware: A Customer’s Experience.”
